Texas looks to bring “truth in labeling” with a new food law

A new label law was signed in Texas and the hope is to cut down confusion at the grocery store.

Governor Greg Abbott just signed a bill requiring plant-based alternative meat products to be labeled:

  • “Analogue Meatless”
  • “Plant-Based”
  • “Made From Plants”
  • Something Similar

The law also addresses mandates for cultivated meat. There have been similar bills across the country.
They have been overturned in Mississippi, Louisiana, and Arkansas, and cases are still pending in Missouri and Oklahoma.
