The 2020 Water Resources Development Act, updated every two years, is nearing completion.
This version aims to restore marine ecosystems, manage flooding though the building of locks and dams, and update water infrastructure.
It would also unlock $2 billion dollars in additional funds for harbor maintenance.
Congressman Jared Huffman, a California Democrat, praised the bill saying, “This legislation will create jobs while addressing the long-term resiliency of our water infrastructure and providing assistance to rural and disadvantaged communities.”
