The FBI is warning farmers and ranchers about cyber security. The Bureau says it takes threats against agriculture seriously, and asks you to report anything suspicious.
“So we just encourage people to read about like what the FBI is doing in the agricultural space to help protect it. Call your local FBI office if you have questions or want to learn more, look online and just and just know that we’re here and stand shoulder to shoulder with whatever we can to help protect this part of our country’s critical infrastructure,” said Eugene Kowel.
Kowel says many cyber-attacks are not reported. Just last year, several grain co-ops were temporarily shut down after cyber-attacks. Another farm was hit with nearly $10 million in losses and had to close because of similar attacks.
