Known to many for its rich rodeo heritage and iconic atmosphere, the Calgary Stampede‘s roots trace back to 1886, when the Calgary District and Agriculture Society held the first Exhibition. According to documented history, “the Exhibition was an opportunity to share knowledge about practicing agriculture in the West, have fun and showcase the best of the West. Though there were a few bumps in the road, the Exhibition became an annual event and attendance continued to grow.”
Tyler Kraft, Manager at Stampede Ranch, talks about the event’s history, the horses, and the hard work that goes in to putting on “the greatest outdoor show on earth.” Watch the video to see the full story.
