Michigan is one year into producing industrial hemp. The crop and industry outlook depends on who you ask.
The Michigan Farm Bureau presents this video explaining how the state will see fewer growers but more acreage and the challenges in growing this crop. According to Theresa Sisung, a field crops specialist with Farm Bureau, “It was something to be expected, I think we kind of knew from the beginning that we were going to over produce this crop... I was most surprised by the fact that...it looks like people who are planning to grow in 2020 are planning to really expand and grow a few more acres.”
