The Senate is one step closer to confirming Vilsack and appointing Ag Committee Chair

The Senate is one step closer to confirming the nomination of Ag Secretary nominee, Tom Vilsack.

Senator Mitch McConnell, now the Minority Leader, says that he will agree to Democrats holding the power in the chamber. The room is split 50/50, but Vice President Harris has the tie breaking vote.

This paves the way for Democrats to take the chairmanships in committees. The Agriculture Committee has been without a chair due to the retirement of Senator Pat Roberts; now Debbie Stabenow will be able to schedule a confirmation hearing for Tom Vilsack.

Senator John Boozman from Arkansas is expected to be the ranking member.
