Livestock analysts are pleasantly surprised at price outlooks for sheep and lamb this fall.
Sheep and lamb slaughter is up this year by 4 percent and herd numbers are down 2 percent, and it is why market analysts are surprised at the price increases. Demand is a big factor, too, especially in the Western United States.
Researchers are keeping a close eye on cold storage numbers, which were down 7 percent earlier this year. Prices tend to get stronger before and after the third quarter.
