On Thursday, the Senate Ag Committee will discuss two nominations for roles within USDA.
The first is for Basil Gooden. The President has nominated him for Undersecretary for Rural Development, which is the position left open so when Xochitl Torres Small took the number two position at USDA. Gooden has been directing state operations for USDA’s Rural Development for the last two years.
The Committee will also consider the President’s pick for a commissioner on the Commodity Futures Trading Commission. This would be a new term for Summer Mersinger, who was previously selected last year.
