The 2020 almond crop in California started off on a good note, with excellent bloom conditions and plenty of opportunity for pollination. The California Farm Bureau presents the video highlighting how growers are expecting a 3-billion-pound crop this year.
Almond farmer Walt Stile states, “My father is 89-years-old, and he’s been farming since he was a kid and swears this is the biggest crop he’s ever seen.”
Last year, there was a lot of pressure on the crop due to pests. This year, Stile implemented preventative measures to keep the pest away, but that did push back the start of their season.
Now, it is time for the trees to be shook and give the almonds a chance to dry out on the ground.
