Top Off Your Tanks: Propane prices are low and supplies are looking strong

With the summer heat in the rearview mirror, the Iowa Ag Secretary is encouraging propane consumers to plan ahead for the winter.

Propane prices are lower than last year and supplies are above the five-year average.
Secretary Mike Naig says that it is still a good time to top off the tank if you rely on propane to heat your home or livestock barn because winter weather is coming.

The United States Energy Information Administration reports nationwide propane stocks are more than 100 million barrels, or 134 days worth of supplies.

As for prices in Iowa, it is at $1.53 per gallon, down more than 30 cents from a year ago.
