A Chinese vaccine to fight African Swine Fever has shown positive progress, according to the official Xinhua news agency. This is one step closer to preventing a deadly livestock disease that has killed hundreds of millions of hogs all over the world.

According to Reuters, the clinical trials were approved in March and have been used one about 3,000 pigs in three different locations and a Chinese medical paper stated the trials were “safe and effective” in April.

Currently there is not cure or vaccine for ASF and it does not impact humans or food safety.
