Tie-down roper Tuf Cooper has dominated the field in San Antonio. Cooper is the big money winner so far after earning $15,500 through the first semifinal. Cooper’s slowest time was in the first round of the semifinal, but even at his slowest he still tied for first place with the 8.0-second run.
On Tuesday he stopped the clock in 7.2 seconds, which put him in second place behind Caddo Lewallen, who posted a run of 7.1-seconds. Lewallen had to get the win to advance to the finals.
In bull riding, J.W. Harris is looking to go back-to-back in San Antonio and is in a great spot after his performance in the first group of the semifinals. Harris was one of just two to make it the full eight seconds on Tuesday night. Harris was second behind Dustin Boquet who had an impressive 86.5 point ride which earned him $5,000. Harris got second which netted him $4,000. The two then split the remaining prize money of $4,000 because they were the only two to post qualifying scores.
