U.S. Cattlemen’s Association reacts to USDA price gap report

The USDA released its full report on the disparity between cattle prices paid to ranchers and the prices earned by meat processors. The review cites no wrong-doing and affirms unprecedented events caused the disruption in the beef markets.

Lia Biondo, the policy coordinator for the U.S. Cattlemen’s Association, speaks with RFD-TV’s own Janet Adkison on their reaction to the report, how it may help the cattle market place, and the Department of Justice’s investigation into price fixing.

“The recommendations that are included within this report will provide greater transparency and true price discovery in the cattle market place. U.S. Cattlemen’s Association, we have long since advocated for making these changes through the reauthorization of livestock mandatory reporting. There are also many opportunities to make changes on the administrative side,” she said.
