U.S. peach production is down this year

U.S. peach production is down with poor weather in California playing a role.

The Golden State produces the most peaches and total production there is down 15 percent. Lance Honig with the National Ag Statistics Service explains what is going on.

“California specifically, they’re expecting the lowest production since 1929. The water situation that’s going on in California but really the bigger story for the California peaches this year would probably be the freeze events that they had in February, and then again in April. Really having a big impact on the crop there,” according to Honig.

He also says that Georgia is having a tough year, with the lowest production since 2018.
