Ukrainian sunflower seed stocks down 73-percent on the year

Despite lower stocks, market analysts do not necessarily believe there will be a July-August-September deficit.

Ukrainian sunflower seed stocks are way down.

In fact, they are down 73 percent year-over-year as of the beginning of July. Stocks at last count were between 1- to 1.7 million metric tons compared to nearly 5 million metric tons in July of 2022.

But despite lower stocks, market analysts do not necessarily believe there will be a July-August-September deficit.

Some crush plants are stopped right now for planned repairs. Some are switching to rapeseed. A cold spring and late planting have sunflower harvesting 20 to 30 days behind.
