Researchers are hopeful to find ways to enhance Nebraska’s current water management practices.

“For water quality stuff, if we know when recharge is happening we know when the groundwater is more vulnerable,” Mikaela Cherry, with the UNL School Of Natural Resources, said. “In terms of quantity, if we think about climate change and changes in precipitation patterns in growing seasons, by knowing when groundwater is recharging we can get an idea of what to expect in terms of how much groundwater recharge we are expecting.”
