“It’s everywhere! It is in every single state.”

We are keeping a close eye on an avian respiratory virus that is taking a toll on turkey producers across the country.

It is called avian metapneumovirus, or AMPV, and it was first discovered in 2023. It has resulted in high mortality in flocks, leaving the industry looking for help.

Sheila Larson with the Iowa Turkey Federation spoke with RFD-TV’s own Tammi Arender on the virus’s impact, ripple effects on the industry, and how to address the situation.
