Updates on Iowa’s recovery from drought and derecho

U.S. Ag Secretary Sonny Perdue declares 18 Iowa counties “natural disaster areas” following the recent derecho storm. Farmers in the region are now eligible for federal assistance from twin disasters that have hit the state.

Iowa Secretary of Agriculture, Mike Naig speaks with RFD-TV’s own Christina Loren on damage and recovery updates from the storm, as well as the latest updates concerning the drought that has affected the state. According to Naig, “The fact is, we’re very, very dry; 99 percent of the state of Iowa, last week, was declared some level of drought, from D0 to D3.... We’ve got parts of the state that need several inches to get back to anywhere close to normal.”
