Updates on U.S. and Canada Meat Processing Plants

The Greeley, Colorado JBS plant is set to reopen today after fully disinfecting its facility. The company is providing face masks for all of its employees and, over the next five days, will be testing on site before shifts begin.

A Smithfield plant in Sioux Falls, South Dakota will be implementing CDC guidelines at the facility: staggering shifts and breaks, and testing employees more frequently. A date for reopening the facility has not been set.

Tyson shuts down another plant; this one is located in Pasco, Washington. Workers there will receive compensation pay.

Some plants have reported cases but remain open. Wayne Farms has 80 confirmed cases and Alatrade Foods has three cases; both of these plants are located in Alabama. Tyson has a reported 100 cases in a facility in Washington state and a Sanderson Farms facility in North Carolina has its first case.

In Canada, United Poultry has closed a plant located in Vancouver and an Alberta JBS plant is only operating with one shift.
