USDA Crop Progress Report-- July 27, 2021
Most crops lost 1 or 2 points on the week, with the exception of cotton, rice, and peanuts, which all improved slightly.
Two thirds of the spring wheat crop is now rated poor to very poor, with less than 10% in the good to excellent category this week.
Winter wheat harvest is now in the final stretch, with about 15% of the crop left in the field. Texas and Oklahoma are both done, with Kansas not far behind.
It’s easy to see which states benefited from the weather this week, as several states saw pasture conditions improve significantly, including South Dakota, Colorado, and New Mexico. Unfortunately, several other states continued their decline.
Moisture deficits continue to be a shuffle of the same top 5 states, as drought continues to take hold of the western United States.
