USDA faces lawsuit over poultry practices, again

The U.S. Department of Agriculture faces a lawsuit for failing to require humane handling of poultry at slaughter facilities.

The Animal Welfare Institute and Farm Sanctuary claims the actions resulted in contaminated products which violated the Poultry Products Inspection Act.

The plaintiffs want USDA’s Food and Safety Inspection Service to develop regulations covering how poultry is handled through slaughter. This is the third time in the last few weeks that the USDA has been sued over poultry practices.
