NASHVILLE, Tenn (RFD-TV) As the federal government returns to action for the next three weeks, the USDA looks to jump start work on implementing the Farm Bill. Although the measure passed last month, lawmakers predict it will take months to structure the farm programs. U.S. Ag Secretary Sonny Perdue says he plans to “prioritize the dairy program” during upcoming oversight meetings. The government will remain open until February 15th. Most workers in the affected departments and agencies have missed two straight biweekly paychecks. Perdue says USDA employees will receive their back pay “as quickly as possible.”
