Utah workers walkout because COVID-19 outbreak at JBS plant

Employees at a JBS plant in Hyrum, Utah walked off the job this week and started protesting in the parking lot.

Almost 300 cases of coronavirus can be traced back to the plant and a widespread testing effort found 28 percent of their workforce tested positive for COVID-19. The Centers for Disease Control is sending help to manage the outbreak, but workers are still calling for closure of the plant.

Despite taking all necessary precautions, Long Prairie Packing Company in Todd Country Minnesota also has an outbreak; affecting almost half of their work force and accounting for most of the cases in the county.
