Vietnam suspends the use of the world’s first African Swine Fever vaccine

Vietnam has temporarily suspended the use of the world’s first African Swine Fever vaccine.

Reuters reports dozens of the 600 pigs that received the shot suddenly died. The country’s Ag Ministry is visiting the province where it happened to investigate the deaths.

USDA’s Ag Research Service helped Vietnam develop the vaccine earlier this year. Lab trials showed it protected at least 80 percent of pigs for six months.
