NASHVILLE, Tenn (RFD-TV) Following the resurgent wine boom in Virginia, artisan and farmstead cheese has become another hit from the state during the local food boom of the last decade. The fertile soil and mild climate of Virginia makes the state an ideal spot for dairy production while cheese making is a way for some dairy farmers to remain solvent during challenging times. The “terroir,” or local environmental conditions, give these artisanal cheeses their unique flavor.
