Washington farmer charged in wheat crop scam totaling $500K

Prosser, Washington (AP) -- Gray Land and Livestock LLC and its owner, Rick Gray, are facing charges linked to a $500,000 dollar wheat crop scam.

The multi-year scam revolved around Gray hiding wheat sales and collecting crop insurance for alleged losses. The insurance payments he received were over $500,000 dollars.

The charges brought on by the federal government include violations of the False Claims Act, mail fraud, bank fraud, and others.
