WATCH: Police therapy dog caught stealing toys from donation bin

Dog Steals from Toy Drive

Officers with the department had arranged to collect toys for children for a local nonprofit that helps families in need.

They began to notice that some toys were disappearing, and after some investigative work, they found who the culprit was. It was Ben, the department’s therapy dog.

“When Ben saw the toys, he thought they all belonged to him,” Deputy Chief James Mill told WFXT News.

Officers caught Ben in the act and filmed him taking a baby doll from the donation area in a classroom. After some brief questioning, Ben walked over to his bed under a desk, where there was another toy.

In a Facebook post on Wednesday, the department joked that they had to keep the classroom door shut and to keep the toys out of reach of the furry thief.
