Where’s the beef?
That’s what several customers and select Wendy’s locations were asking when they entered the drive-thru only to find they could not order beef products.
“We are terribly sorry for the inconvenience, we are currently experiencing issues with our meat processing supplier and are unable to serve beef products,” a handwritten sign posted by Twitter user Amber Olivas read.
An estimate from financial firm Stephens cited by CNN said about 18 percent of Wendy’s restaurants are out of beef, sighting the company’s reliance on never-frozen produce as a reason that it is more vulnerable to supply chain issues.
Wendy’s has not officially commented on the menu change and what areas and stores have been specifically impacted.
At the beginning of the month, a Wendy’s spokesperson told Restaurant Business that the burger chain was trying to minimize the impact of the pandemic on its customers.
