Wilson Roosevelt Jerman, a White House butler who worked under 11 presidents, has died of coronavirus.
His granddaughter broke the news to Fox 5 DC.
Jerman started in the White House under President Eisenhower in 1957 and worked there until 2012. George W. Bush and Laura Bush were both fond of Jerman.
“He was a lovely man,” the Bushes said in a statement to NBC News. “He was the first person we saw in the morning when we left the residence and the last person we saw each night when we returned.”
Jerman also had the admiration of the Kennedys, his granddaughter says that Jackie Kennedy is the reason he was promoted from cleaner to butler in the 1960s.
