Today is the deadline for Washington lawmakers to get a spending bill passed to keep money flowing to agencies like USDA.
The House already passed a smaller spending package this week, including the ag department, and it is now waiting on action from the Senate. They are expected to act before the clock runs out at midnight.
Several lawmakers say they are eager to get spending plans in place so work can resume on the Farm Bill.
