Lawmakers are asking the U.S. Trade Rep to launch an investigation into Mexican fruit imports.
The group, led by Florida Senator Marco Rubio, says that a flood of subsidized seasonal fruits and vegetables are coming into the U.S. They sent a letter to Trade Rep Katherine Tai, asking her to look into it.
The group says that the Mexican government’s export targeting scheme has caused the gross value of Mexican produce in the U.S. market to increase 596 percent in the last 20 years.
