NEW ORLEANS, LA. (RFD NEWS) — Hundreds of women gathered in New Orleans last week for the Women in Agribusiness Conference, bringing together professionals from across the agriculture industry for education, networking, and relationship-building.
RFD-TV’s Kirbe Schnoor caught up with Krista Soda of Nationwide Agribusiness, a longtime conference partner, to discuss the event’s value and the importance of supporting women in agriculture.
In her conversation with RFD News, Soda said Nationwide has participated in the conference for 13 years and has led a networking breakout session for the past three.
This year’s session focused on building professional connections in a more casual and interactive setting. Soda said the relationships built through the conference can provide valuable support throughout a person’s career.
“It’s truly about building those relationships and those connections,” Soda said.
She said those connections can become a resource when someone needs career advice, assistance with a challenge, or simply someone who understands their experience.
Supporting Women in Agriculture
Soda said Nationwide’s support for events such as Women in Agribusiness and FarmHER + RanchHER reflects the company’s interest in supporting the future of the agriculture industry.
She pointed to the growing presence of women in agricultural education and said the industry needs people in a wide range of roles, from production to insurance.
“It’s the future,” Soda said. “We need people in the ag industry.”
Soda said events that highlight women in agriculture can help encourage more people to consider careers in the industry.
She also said the conference’s continued growth shows how much women value making connections and learning from one another.
