Rookie Stetson Wright wasted no time in getting his first NFR round win.

Wright won round one with an impressive 92.5-point ride, something he has been dreaming of since he was a kid.

“It was amazing, I have envisioned it since I was a little kid here watching my dad (Cody Wright).”

Wright was excited to ride on Monte Walsh a bull he knows has seen been a part of big scores in the past.

“I knew a lot about him (Monte Walsh) my friends have won rodeos all this summer, he is the money bull and when you see the bull by your name you are doing cartwheels.”

Coming into the event Wright was in second place in the bull riding world standings, but with youth comes doubt, and after the round one win, Wright is confident any doubt from others is gone.

“I am sure everybody was wondering if I belonged here, and hopefully that is out of their mind now.”

With his 92.5-point run Wright edged out Boudreaux Campbell who put up a solid 92-point run which jumped him from sixth to fourth in the world standings.
