Travelers on Interstate 75 running through central Georgia see a site that often makes them pull over and stop – a giant Titan missile stretching up to the sky that’s visible from the roadway off an exit for the town of Cordele.
When visitors pull over for gas and a bite to eat, that’s when they also find out Cordele is the official Watermelon Capitol of the World.
They may not be greeted by an entourage of Watermelon Queens of all ages, like we were, but you can’t miss the fact that Cordele is all about watermelon.
