Young farmers are dealing with more farm stress
From weather woes to the pandemic’s disruption, there are a number of factors weighing on producers. A recent study shows young farmers are more stressed than older ones, and are less likely to effectively manage the issues.
RFD-TV’s John Jenkinson speaks with Heather Watson, the Executive Director of Farm Management Canada, on the recent study and how we can support our younger farmers.
“Farmers under 40, which is what we qualify as young farmers, reported that they are more stressed than their senior counterparts, and what’s concerning is young farmers tend to resort to less affective cooping mechanisms that put addition strain on their mental health and interpersonal relations,” Watson said.
