We are getting a closer look at the impact of high path avian flu on Wisconsin’s egg production.
Production was up 10 percent in May on the month, but it was down a third from a year ago. The average number of layers in May was just over five million birds compared to last year’s seven and a half million.
The state first detected the disease in March when almost three million hens had to be culled.
