It has been more than a week since a federal order was implemented to stop the spread of High Path Avian Fly in dairy cattle, and APHIS aims to ensure producers understand the requirements.
The order not only requires a negative test for the virus, but a certificate of veterinary inspection as well. States depend on these certificates to monitor cattle movement, and all cattle listed on these reports must possess an ID indicating they are free from illness or exposure to sick animals.
APHIS asserts that there are no exceptions to this mandate.
