Bittersweet Harvest: Farmer fulfills his last wish

Paul Wetter. Years farmed: 50. Favorite tractor: John Deere 4430.

Have you enjoyed the life you live? It is a beautiful thing to choose a career path that never makes you feel like you worked a day in your life. Most farmers will say even though they see little profit at the end of the day, there is no job that is more rewarding than agriculture.

This is true for Paul Wetter, who has been farming for 50 years.

Paul was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer shortly after not feeling 100 percent like himself after planting. When asked how he has been feeling recently, he said, “I might not feel good these days, but this view out here is better than anything else in the world.” The statement is something the world could use more of - optimism in a time of the unknown.

His wife, Cindy says her one final wish was that the Lord would give Paul enough strength to fill the final grain cart of this year’s harvest.

Photographer Lexie Lou captured these beautiful moments as well as God’s gorgeous painting in the background.
