Our sources report that sitting Congressman Doug LaMalfa of California has died at the age of 65.

LaMalfa, a fourth-generation rice farmer, was serving his seventh term representing California’s 1st District. He sat on the Agriculture, Natural Resources, and Transportation committees and was known for his work on water and forestry issues.

Colleagues describe him as a steadfast voice for rural America.
