We are getting a closer look at just how deadly the Texas wildfires have been for cattle.
The Texas Tribune reports more than 7,000 head of cattle have died. Analysts fear that the number directly related to the fires could reach 10,000, but the exact number will not be known for months as ranchers make management decisions.
Cattle are suffering injuries such as burnt hooves, udders, and even respiratory issues.
The Smokehouse Creek Fire burned for three weeks, scorching more than a million acres. It is now fully contained.
