The COIVD-19 pandemic has had an extreme effect on the dairy industry. Analysts say that the impact may speed up consolidations in the sector, as well as lower the prices of dairy products by up to 30 percent, which may extend into the upcoming year.
Many milk producers have been forced to dump their product due to the bottlenecking of the supply chain and lack of outlets.
The president of Dairy Management Inc. Barb O’Brien has found a way to help prevent producers from having to dump their milk. She is leading efforts to partner with schools and food banks to help dairy farmers keep their products flowing.
O’Brien says, “We are urgently executing these strategies across the U.S. to help dairy farmers in this time of crisis, which is more important now than ever in our history.”
