Dairy sector reacts to coronavirus aid

The dairy industry has been hit hard by the coronavirus pandemic. RFD-TV’s Janet Adkison reports that some dairy producers are concerned with payment limits from the recent coronavirus aid package.

According to the National Milk Producers Federation, the USDA’s new coronavirus aid package could fall short in its efforts to help the industry. According to Paul Blieberg, the VP of Government Relations with the NMPF, “Farmers that produced large amounts of milk will receive limited assistance under this package, and given the massive losses that farmers, of all sizes, are facing, we have raised significant concerns already for producers all across the country regarding the payment limits.”

Of the $19 billion dollars in the aid package, $2.9 billion dollars will go towards dairy losses.
