December’s Producer Price Index slips slightly

The Producer Price Index came in better than expected.

Prices at the wholesale level rose 1 percent on the year, and the market was expecting 1.3 percent. In the month, prices dropped 0.1 percent, when the market was expecting a small rise.

The PPI measures prices before they are passed onto the consumer.
