Do you remember Minnie Moo?

Back in the 1980s, one Holstein had a fairy tale story!

“Minnie” was born on a farm in Edgerton, Minnesota. The cow was not a great milk producer and the family planned to send her off to the butcher. That was until the family’s niece wrote to Disney and suggested that the “Most Magical Place on Earth” could find a use for her.

You see, Minnie looked “different” than other Holsteins. She had three big, black dots on her side that looked like the iconic mouse duo created by Walt Disney.

In 1990, she was purchased and made her new home at Walt Disney World’s Grandma Duck’s Petting Farm. Six years later she was relocated to Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort and Campground’s petting zoo.

She brought delight to many visitors and lived to be 17 years old. A spokesperson for Disney stated, “Minnie Moo brought much joy to both our guests and our cast members. We will miss her greatly.”

Minnie was such a cultural star that letters came in from all around notifying Disney of animals with similar markings.
