The FBI is investigating what it calls a massive fraud scheme involving COVID relief and money that was supposed to feed children.
The New York Times reports that the investigation centers around Feeding Our Future, which received $65 million dollars from federal food programs. The Minnesota firm was supposed to oversee fifteen operations.
In one case, agents say that a fake non-profit set up a large children’s care operation, claiming it could prepare 5,000 meals a day.
A series of pre-dawn raids revealed the address led to an apartment. So far, no arrests have been made.
