Fertilizer prices are beginning to climb as planting picks up

As farmers hit the fields for planting season, fertilizer prices are starting to track higher. Analysts with DTN found that three of the eight major types saw price jumps over 10 percent.

UAN32 gained 10 percent compared to last month, now at $439 per ton and five percent higher on the year. UAN28 and potash both jumped five percent on the month, and UAN28 is now three percent higher than this time last year.

Despite the recent gains, potash still remains nearly 10 percent off last year’s levels.
