One Texas high schooler took his love for ag mechanics and put it to good use!

Cade Clark, a senior at Frenship High School in Wolfforth, Texas, brought home a big win at the San Antonio Stock Show and Rodeo, but it was not for livestock. He restored a 1954 Model 70 John Deere for the Agricultural Mechanics Show.

He won first place in his class, division grand champion, and reserve grand champion for all tractors in the city. It took him 700 hours to get the tractor show ready!

Clark ended up taking home two torches, two welders, two buckles, and a $10,000 dollar scholarship, which he says will go to his college fund.

“There are so many facets of ag students can compete in and we love seeing students step out into these different experiences and opportunities. We are so proud of Cade and the time and effort he devoted into restoring his Model 70 tractor,” one of his FFA advisors stated.

He stated that it was a real sense of accomplishment and taught him a lot about discipline and responsibility, according to KPTV.
