FFA Today: Ohio FFA Works looks to get members into a career in agriculture

Agriculture does more than feed us; it fuels our cars, clothes our bodies, and powers our economy.

Recognizing that need, the National FFA Organization was founded in 1927 to create a pipeline from the classroom to careers in agriculture, empowering young people to lead the industry forward.

For the Ohio FFA Association, they had a question: “How can they make that pipeline even clearer for students ready to work?”

The answer came in 2023, when the Ohio FFA Foundation launched Ohio FFA Works, a first-of-its-kind program that connects students directly with ag employers across the state— offering real job opportunities right after graduation.

Shelby Brown, the Program Manager for the Ohio FFA Foundation, and Alex Lamma, a 2024 hiree of the Ohio FFA Works Program, spoke with RFD-TV’s Tammi Arender about bridging the gap between FFA and the ag industry, what companies are enrolled, and preparing for the workforce.
