One Florida man brought in a massive gator while out hunting for the reptile back in August.
Captain Kevin Brotz with Florida Gator Hunting and two friends were out hunting in the central part of the state. The trio spotted what looked like at least a 12-footer but never could get close enough.
Three hours after the first sighting, they made their way back and spotted the monster again. “Then the fight began!”
After hooking it, the gator went slow across the bottom. "[With having three heavy-duty fishing rods in this gator and him not moving,] my stomach was in my throat. I knew he was a giant,” Brotz stated.
The battle raged on for three hours before the gator was harvested.
The gator ended up measuring 920 pounds and measured 13 feet and 3 inches.
The current state record for length is 14 feet and 3 1/2 inches; the state record in weight is over 1,040 pounds.
