Carrie Marie Underwood has been dominating the country music scene for over 15 years, almost since her first album.
She was born in Muskogee, Oklahoma on March 10, 1983. She got her first big break as a contestant on American Idol, which she won.
She is the most awarded country artist of all time. She has seven Grammys, fifteen ACM awards, seventeen AMAs, twelve Billboard awards, has been CMT’s Artist of the Year five times, plus many more accomplishments.
In celebration of her birthday, here are four of our favorite songs.
“So Small”
“So Small” was Underwood’s first co-written single. Released in 2007 it was the first single off of Carnival Ride. She debuted it at the CMA Awards that year. It cracked the top 20 on the Billboard charts.
“All-American Girl”
Another single from Carnival Ride. It broke to number 1 on the Canadian Billboard Country charts.
“Remind Me” with Brad Paisley
Released in 2011, Underwood teamed up with fellow country legend, and close friend, Brad Paisley. While it was released on Paisley’s album, This Is Country Music, it landed both an ASCAP, CMT, and ACA award. The song went two times platinum
“Jesus Take the Wheel”
This 2005 single was the first time many heard Carrie Underwood sing. “Jesus Take The Wheel” would go on to become a pillar in her discography. It sold over two million copies in eleven years and charted very well on both the Christian charts and the country charts.
